BPI hosts portfolio founders in Munich for bi-annual Global Portfolio Days and DLD Conference
Burda Principal Investments (BPI) kicked off 2024 by hosting our bi-annual Global Portfolio Days and DLD Conference in Munich. The event, which took place from January 9-13, 2024, brought together portfolio founders from the UK, the US, Germany, France, Lithuania, and the Philippines, as well as the global BPI team.
The week was filled with insightful discussions, with founders sharing initiatives that had the biggest impact on their companies and artificial intelligence use cases from their respective businesses. Dr. Andreas Liebl from appliedAI and Robert Darius from Hubert Burda Media also shared their expertise in the field of AI. In addition to the discussions, there was no shortage of networking opportunities, with multiple dinners and a visit to BMW Group’s production facilities in Munich. Curious what this looked like?

After the first few days in the smaller round at Munich Urban Colab, the BPI team and portfolio founders joined the wider DLD Conference from January 11-13. The event was opened by Steffi Czerny with the call to action, “We must not stop striving for new knowledge. This is the only way we can shape our future.” The tagline of the conference this year was “Dare to Know” and it included featured speakers from BPI and its portfolio companies. Among those joining the stage were Jonas Andrulis, the founder and CEO of Aleph Alpha, who gave a keynote on the challenges and opportunities of AI in government; Georg Steiger, the CEO and co-founder of BillEase, who joined a panel discussion on how his company leverages AI and machine learning to open new doors for financial inclusion in the Philippines. BPI CEO Christian Teichmann also joined Hilary Mason, the founder of Hidden Door, on the DLD stage to discuss AI, gaming, and storytelling.
