Martin Weiss joined Burda in 2015 and is Managing Director at Burda Principal Investments, addressing global investment opportunities in the consumer internet sector. Previously Martin was Executive Vice President Strategy and Corporate Development at international telecommunications and media company Millicom. Here, he was responsible for expanding and transforming the company’s digital activities in Latin America, the USA and Africa. Martin was previously Founding Partner at management consulting company Solon and ran their London office from 2008 to 2013. His work focused on developing digital growth strategies for international media companies and supporting leading private equity companies in mergers & acquisitions. From 1992 to 1996 Martin was with McKinsey&Co. At present, Martin is currently Chairman of New Work SE (NWO: Xetra), Chairman of Burda’s Immediate Media Ltd (UK), and he serves on the board of BPI portfolio company Vinted.
Christian Teichmann joined Burda in 2015 and is CEO and Managing Director of Burda Principal Investments. Prior to joining Burda and helping to set up Burda Principal Investments, he was at Solon Management Consulting for over a decade as Partner and Head of the London office. Christian focused on business building as well as growth and investment strategies in TMT industries. Before that, he worked for investment banks Lazard and Greenhill covering European tech and semiconductor industries. Christian holds degrees in economics from Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Madrid and ESB Reutlingen and is a Harvard Business School Alumni. Currently, he is on the supervisory boards of NotOntheHighStreet, Baublebar, Bloom & Wild, M.Gemi and Rockets of Awesome, and holds board observer seats at Skillshare as well as WaitWhat (“Masters of Scale”) and Recount Media.
Albert joined Burda in 2017 and is Managing Director for Burda Principal Investments Asia. Previously he was at GREE Ventures from 2014 to 2017, where he led the fund's investment team in Southeast Asia and India as Principal while working closely with many of its portfolio companies including Kudo, Berrybenka, and Bukalapak. Prior to this, he served as a Director at Lazada Group, Southeast Asia’s largest ecommerce retailer, helping build the company’s Marketplace business across the region. Other professional experience includes co-founding an online menswear company in the US called AlbertMing Inc. and spending 5 years as a consultant at Monitor Group across the US and Asia. He completed his MBA at the University of California, Berkeley and studied at the University of Pennsylvania with dual degrees in economics and systems engineering. He currently sits on the board of Priceza, Zilingo, Carsome, Coc Coc and Hmlet.
Neil started his career at Black Rock in New York City, where he spent eight years working with Central Banks and Sovereign Wealth Funds building multi-asset portfolios, before taking on a role as an investment strategist within the Real Assets Private Equity team. Prior to joining BPI, Neil led growth and pre-IPO investments for Sinarmas Gear Innovation Network, where he managed a portfolio that included GoJek, Tokopedia, Traveloka and Airbnb. Neil also led early-stage investments at Agape Ace, a Singapore family office whose portfolio includes Ohmyhome, Madeviral, Glife and Allegro Aqua. He completed his MBA at Insead and BSc at NYU’s Stern School of Business with dual degrees in Finance and Economics. Neil serves as a senior investment advisor to Sinarmas, and is a CAIA charterholder.
Thomas joined Burda in 2017 and is a principal of Burda Principal Investments. He previously spent four years in the investment banking division of Nomura in London, advising on a variety of M&A and capital market transactions within the consumer & retail sectors. His earlier experience includes positions at Apax Partners and Deloitte in Paris. Thomas holds an MSc in Management from EM Lyon Business School.
Natalie joined Burda in 2017 and is a Principal of Burda Principal Investments in London. Previously she was the CFO of a technology start-up company focused on natural language processing in New York City. Prior to that, she worked in the investment banking / M&A teams at J.P. Morgan in London. Natalie studied at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management (Business) and completed her MBA at Harvard Business School.
Amelia joined Burda in 2018 and is a Principal of Burda Principal Investments in London. Previously she was an Investor at Unilever Ventures from 2015-2018 whose portfolio includes consumer investments such as Gousto, True Botanicals, Blow Beauty, and Instacart. Amelia was actively involved with the portfolio serving as Board Observer to seven of the companies across Europe and the US. Prior to this, she was a Strategy Consultant within the M&A practice at Accenture for four years focussing on technology and consumer goods. Amelia completed a BA Hons degree in Philosophy at Durham University and previously founded a consumer domestic services marketplace, and a non-profit organisation focussed on women in work.
John Greger joined Burda in 2019 and is Chief Product Officer for Burda Principal Investments. Before joining Burda, he was CPO at Vinted, leading the product and IT teams during a successful turnaround phase. Prior to this, he worked as CPO or Head of Product for Rocket Internet, Mister Spex and Immobilienscout24. His earlier experience as Strategy Consultant includes positions at Lexington and Lexta Consulting. John studied at the WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management, San Diego State University, CERAM Sophia Antipolis, and the EBS University. He currently sits on the board of The Female Company.
Clare joined Burda Principal Investments as Chief Operating Officer in 2021. Prior to this, she led Impact Management Strategy & Investor Relations at nebenan.de in Berlin. Clare previously worked in financial markets at Nomura in Sydney and Macquarie in London before moving into the Impact Investment space in 2016. Following this, she spent time working at the in-house impact fund of RBS (NatWest Group), at a boutique social impact consultancy in London and with a social enterprise incubator in India. Clare studied at University of Bologna and holds a Master of Commerce in Corporate Finance & International Business from the University of Sydney.
Laura joined Burda Principal Investments in 2021 as Investment Manager, becoming part of the Berlin team. Previously, she gained broad VC experiences with one of Germany’s most active early-stage funds in Berlin. There, she built a high-potential portfolio which
she actively supported while each company matured from the seed stage. Laura served on various boards and led multiple financing rounds. Before doubling down on her passion for startups and venture capital she gained experiences in banking, consulting, corporate
innovation and founded a food startup during her bachelors in the Netherlands. Laura holds a master’s degree in European Studies from Freie Universität Berlin, in addition to her Bachelor in International Business and Management Studies.
Luisa Frank joined Burda in 2018 and is an Investment Associate of Burda Principal Investments. Prior to joining Burda Principal Investments, she took part in Burda’s Management Trainee Program where she completed a wide range of different projects across the company’s portfolio. Her earlier experience includes various positions in the operations departments of companies like ProSiebenSat.1 Media and Knorr-Bremse Group. Luisa holds a Master’s Degree in Management from Technical University of Munich and a Bachelor of Science in Food Technology from Weihenstephan University of Applied Sciences.
Sophie joined Burda in 2020 and is an Investment Associate of Burda Principal Investments in London. Sophie previously spent three years at Centerview Partners in London, where she worked on long-term strategic advisory projects and M&A transactions. She primarily focused on large healthcare and consumer companies, and worked closely with early stage high-growth consumer companies. Prior to that, she completed internships with Goldman Sachs, Deloitte and The Economist Group. Sophie holds a BA Hons in Economics from Durham University.
Edwin joined Burda in 2017 and is an Associate of Burda Principal Investments in the Singapore office. Previously, he spent a year at online fashion retailer Tokyo Fashion, where he focused on partnerships and market expansion in Southeast Asia for its multi-label portfolio. Prior to that, Edwin completed internships across multiple industries and at companies such as GREE Ventures, Wilmar International and APL. He graduated from Nanyang Technological University with a business degree and major in finance.
Vincent Rose joined Burda in 2019 as an Investment Analyst of Burda Principal Investments after completing a summer internship in 2018.
Prior to joining Burda, he gathered experience through internships in various industries, most recently with Bayer Inhouse Consulting focusing on technology evaluation & integration. His earlier experience includes Operations Management at the Berlin start-up Movinga, as well as practice in the field of private equity.
Vincent studied business administration at Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, American University Washington D.C. and University College Dublin
Friedrich joined Burda in 2020 and is an Investment Associate of Burda Principal Investments, in our office in Munich. Before graduating with a M.Sc. in Management from WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management, Friedrich spent three years at The Nunatak Group, during which the company grew from 10 to 40 consultants. His primary focus was on digital transformation strategies and M&A advisory within the media and entertainment industry. Friedrich has also completed internships at BMW and multiple startup companies. In addition to his master’s degree from WHU, Friedrich holds a B.Sc. in business administration from LMU Munich.
Jenny joined Burda in 2020 as an Associate of Burda Principle Investments in Singapore. She previously worked at Boston Consulting Group Expand and FinTech Control Tower, where she focused on APAC FinTech ecosystem and served banking clients on digital and innovation topics. Jenny also worked at Deutsche Bank as an Analyst in CTO office for two years. Prior to that, she completed internships with HuaXi Securities China and Citibank NA. Jenny graduated from Nanyang Technological University with Major in Engineering and Minor in Business.
Peter Kennedy joined Burda Asia in 1998, where he was tasked with developing the company’s various businesses in Asia. He is currently Senior Adviser to Burda Principal Investments. Previously, Peter developed and oversaw joint ventures in Taiwan with SPH, Indonesia with the Alisjahbana family, and Korea with Design House Inc. He was also closely involved in the set up of a print joint venture with the Hindustan Times Group in Delhi and helped to acquire one of the regions most successful luxury publishing companies, Prestige. In the digital space, he has worked on the company’s investment into contextual advertising in Korea and most recently in the investment into Vietnam’s leading browser based search business, CocCoc. Prior to joining Burda, Peter worked in New York for the Economist, where he developed the magazine’s US market penetration strategy, now its largest market, and for Scientific American. He has extensive Asian business experience in Japan, Korea, China, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong. Peter received his BA in business studies from the City of London University and served in the Special Air Service (SAS) while in the UK military.
Ed Vilandrie joined Burda Principal Investments as a Senior Adviser in 2020, where he has been tasked with developing the company’s portfolio investments in the Americas. Previously, Ed was co-founder and co-CEO at Altman Vilandrie & Company for 18 years, where he helped build the TMT-focused strategic consulting firm’s practice to nearly 200 consultant and over 30 partners across three offices. He led client initiatives in all areas of TMT including across all areas of the entire industry value chain. Ed has advised numerous investor clients on successful engagements in the space and also has identified several early stage Software-as-a-service and intelligence-based services business opportunities that has resulted in successful business launches and exits.
Prior to Altman Vilandrie, Ed was a Vice President at Cambridge Strategic Management Group and a Research Analyst at Cambridge Economics, an MIT-based economics consulting firm.
Ed divides his personal time between Boston and Vermont and is a member of various industry and Philanthropic education-based and non-profit Boards. Ed received his Sc.B. in Applied-Mathematics from Brown University.
Monika joined Burda in July 2021. Prior to joining Burda Principal Investments she worked as an Executive Assistant in various media companies. Monika holds a Master’s degree in English and Italian Linguistics from the University of Augsburg.
